Tom Demac’s Róisín Murphy Remix is Literally ‘Unputdownable’

Róisín Murphy’s been an intriguing proposition. The former Moloko front woman’s spent the last decade or so crafting deliciously off-kilter records that seamlessly fuse disco with jazz, country, gospel, and synth-pop.

Taken from her Mercury nominated third solo album Hairless Toys, “Unputdownable” is a lilting lullaby of a record, coming on like Prefab Sprout collaborating with Hot Chip. Which is a very good thing indeed. We’re bringing you an exclusive listen to Welsh wizard Tom Demac’s wicked remix right here on THUMP.

Demac’s remix is a floaty, airy, pitch perfect, brittle microhousey construction that brings the likes of Superpitcher, Robag Whrume and Lawrence to mind. Given how much we love that sound here on THUMP it’s not surprising that we’re completely enamoured with this one. It’s ideal for both early mornings in the club and long walks in the woods on those picture perfect sunny winter afternoons. And there aren’t many other records which can make that claim. Check it out below.

Hairless Toys is out now on Play It Again Sam. She plays live in London tomorrow night at the Apollo. Head here for tickets.
