Hey Ron! – A problem with problems

This week’s concern is all about problems, or rather, the lack thereof. Some guy wrote in saying that his major dilemma was that he had nothing to worry about. We can think of about 1,326 things that we could do to make him unsettled if he were within arm’s reach. But that’s not what this is about. It’s about Ron’s scholarly pointers on how to graciously overcome life’s foibles. And away we go…

Hey Ron!

Videos by VICE

I really want to send you some big, tear-jerking problem for you to solve but I just can’t think of anything! My life is really great, my parents give me lots of love and support and have very successful careers, Uncle Johnny never touched me inappropriately when I was a child, I’m not a drug abuser, and I don’t have an alcohol problem. I have a large group of friends and I know exactly what I want to do with my life. I literally have nothing to moan about and it pisses me off on a daily basis. How am I supposed to feel pain when everyone is so supportive? Please, what can I do to suffer a bit more? Even just a little bit…

First of all, stop complaining about not having problems. Grow the hell up and let it go. You’re young. You have your whole life ahead of you to experience a lot of drama. Right now you’re focused and your life is going well. Keep it that way for as long as possible, because when the problems do happen they’re going to hit you hard and, you know, you’re just going to have to learn how to solve them. So right now, live your life, do what you got to do, and strive for what you’re striving for. Don’t look for problems. Thank God you have no problems. If you want problems, I can give you some of mine. Like, if you’re doing well with money, send me some, you know?

That said, there are a lot of people out there with problems, and if you want to do something, then help out those who do have problems. Outside of that, enjoy your life. Hopefully I’ll be around long enough to give you some advice on your problems when they do come up, but right now just shut up. Dude, I was born black so there goes my problems right there. My problem started from birth. We always have problems man. We’re from the projects. What more do you want? We’re always having problems and issues and you don’t see me whining about it.

Love,

Ron
