It’s not impossible for daydreams to become real when you’re a talented CGI designer and art director like Italian ex-pat Alessio De Vecchio. By day, he designs art for brands like Citibank, H&M, and Margiela, but in his spare time he fills Instagram with unreal characters and lanscapes your dreams wish they could come up with. While splitting his time between NYC, Milan, and Tokyo, he takes sublime joy in uprooting mundane objects and making them fit into his imaginary universes. Whether it’s a power line tower on top of Mount Everest dwarfed by a massive spherical artifact, or a silver fork plunged into a mysterious blob of glowing goo, each 3D snapshot makes you wonder what’s going on at the edges of the frame.
In 2009, De Vecchio founded a creative group called adv collective, and recently saw his work sceened at Pausefest in Australia. Keep up with his work on the adv collective website, and check out his surreal daydreams in the Instagram posts below.
