On July 3, Egypt’s defense minister General Abdel Fatteh al-Sisi seized power from the country’s elected president Mohammed Morsi. But Morsi’s supporters in the Muslim Brotherhood weren’t about to give up without a fight. Now that the Brotherhood’s experiment with democracy seemed to have failed, some of Morsi’s supporters began to turn to more radical action. All Egypt braced itself for the inevitable backlash. When it came, it would be deadly.
