On a budget of just $300, Aero Director/ VFX artist Sam O’Hare completed The Sandpit. Inspired by movies like Baraka and Koyaanisqatsi that present the story of exceptional places without too much concern for conventional characters or plot lines, O’Hare turned his lens on ground zero and the people who live and work nearby. Taking 35,000 photos from towering perches around Manhattan that make everything below seem both comfortingly and unsettlingly small in comparison, O’Hare spent five days and two nights capturing the images using time-lapse tilt shift photography, then edited them together. The soundtrack is by Human.
