The first time I was referred to as a member of the “slash generation,” I wanted to slash someone’s tires. After hearing about artists like 27-year-old MAAD*MOISELLE, I was a little more accepting. The girl is undeniably versatile—she’s a model/DJ/singer-songwriter who’s performed for BET and MTV while also DJing events for the likes of Cartier and Tumblr. She can rap too, as evidenced on her 2013 A$AP Ferg-featuring cut “Killa.” On top of that, she’s already graced the pages of Cosmo, Elle, Nylon, and Seventeen. On being multi-talented, she says, “I think so many people in our generation have numerous artistic endeavors because the possibilities and opportunities are infinite. The Internet has opened doors for self-empowerment and the ability to do or be anything you want. There are really no rules on how to be a creative these days.”
Premiering below is her new music video for “Sweet & Low,” a disco-funk track infused with candy pop beats and playfully erotic lyrics. Shot in a 50s-themed diner in Wildwood, New Jersey, the video shows MAAD rocking numerous looks, including a cotton candy pink wig paired with glittery purple eyebrows.
