There’s something particularly poignant about the dark, sci-fi music of the 80s. The sense of doom wrought by disease, inequality, cold war, and crack pipes created a wild sense of surrender that only the end times can bring. Psychedelic LA beatsmith Computer Jay brings all that up in this personal throwback vision of dystopian future by means of a mix loaded with arpeggiated melodies, analog references, and fuzzy electronics. Freejack all up in this shit. Replace Mick Jagger with Busta and you get the point. It’s not all gloom and doom though, so don’t be wary. Jay doesn’t forget to bring the funk.
