This THCa Flower Is Like S’moking S’mores

A vanilla-y strain that leaves you more toasted than a campfire marshmallow.

Oreoz, also called Oreo Cookies or just Oreos, is a popular strain that’s been around since the early aughts. For stoners who love a rich profile and cozy high, it’s a go-to. The Mood Oreoz THCa Flower is a potent THCa version of this cookie-inspired strain, so you can enjoy the toasted taste and heavy high without needing a recreational dispensary nearby.

Cookies With a Kick

The Oreoz strain is a potent one, with 21.45% THC after decarboxylation (lighting up). There’s roughly 215mg THC per gram, a.k.a. a dime bag if you’re old school and know what it’s like to pick up from a dealer.

The strain isn’t particularly heavy on any other cannabinoids. But there are hints of CBD and CBG that help create that soothing body high. As far as strains go, this potency is on the higher end of the spectrum, making it ideal for regular users who know they want to reach Cloud 9 after a few hits.

It’s a hybrid that strongly leans indica, with just a 30% sativa makeup. The strain’s parents are Cookies & Cream and Secret Weapon. While both parents are hybrid strains, the indica lineage in Cookies & Cream seems to dominate the high Oreoz delivers. I’ll get more into the high and flavor below, but overall, Cookies & Cream took the lead on this one. Secret Weapon was more of an absent parent.

Melt Into the Moment

Mood has labeled this strain as “Soothing,” capturing the mellow but euphoric vibe well. It’s floaty but melty at the same time, so it can be a chill strain for a walk in the park or a sleepy one for bedtime. It’s one of those varieties that tends to create a long-lasting high that matches your current state, just bringing in a happy and mellow overtone to it all.

It’s the perfect blend of body high and head high. I felt that cerebral haziness — a classic sort of high that feels cozy and familiar, and also fun. Alongside it is the relaxing body high, which can be warm and heavy or more tingly and effervescent.

Not only does this high not come with anxious feelings, but it actively squashed unpleasant thoughts. Sunday scaries faded away just as soon as they appeared. Secret Weapon often energizes and focuses people, but Oreoz didn’t get many of those traits. The giggly vibes of Cookies & Cream overpower, keeping you in a blissful cloud of calm.

S’mores and Spice and Everything Nice

Upon first whiff, this strain gives off a spicy, herby scent. It’s a heavy, rich profile, much like the high it creates. Oreoz I’ve had in the past has leaned more toward the tobacco taste, but Mood’s Oreoz is a sweeter strain. Mood describes the profile as “Campfire S’mores, Fruity Grape, Spicy Herbs.” If I try really hard, the grape smell comes through ever so subtly. But the s’mores scent takes center stage.

There’s a smoky flint smell with undertones of graham cracker and marshmallow. The scent profile swings back and forth between the campfire vibes and the herby smell, giving you sweet and spicy in one strain. Secret Weapon is on the fruitier side with a bit of herbiness, while Cookies & Cream is a nutty, vanilla strain. Again, Oreoz seems to take after C&C more.

The taste isn’t quite as easy to define as the scent. It has a robust flavor, so it’s not light or airy on your palate. It’s a bit rougher than Mood’s Cereal Milk strain, which is smooth as hell, but Oreoz is still an easygoing smoke. It just has a strong weight to it, especially if you roll it into a joint. But even from a bong, the texture is toasty and full-bodied.

The Minimalist Mood

Mood’s packaging has a no-nonsense aesthetic that is still stylish. The products generally come in cardboard or paper packages, which is much better for the environment than the heavy plastic most cannabis brands use (yay!). It feels plain, but in a refined and organic way that makes the actual products the stars of the show.

Rather than brand themselves with dizzying colors and bold graphics, they opted for a quieter style that lets the cannabis speak for itself. Personally, I don’t get tired of this clean, rustic aesthetic, which doesn’t play too hard toward any single demographic of user.

Prices For the Primo Stuff

This strain is categorized as top shelf, so it’s more expensive than other Mood strains. For a gram, it’s $17, and you save more if you buy larger amounts like a quarter or a full ounce. Flower prices can range wildly, so whether or not it’s worth it comes down to your weed budget and how much you like to spend on getting high. But this price point is typical for a strain of this potency and quality.

If you subscribe and save and get a full ounce, it’s less than $9 a gram, which is a solid deal. Keep in mind that flower from a recreational dispensary can be cheaper, depending on where you live. I know dispensaries that sell $10 ounces (don’t recommend). Really, you can pay whatever you want for flower, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be good. These THCa strains are carefully cultivated, so you can expect excellent quality every time, which is worth it for me.

A Strain Worth Dunking Into

If you love a decadent, dank strain, the Mood Oreoz THCa Flower is a delicious option. You get that caramelized campfire flavor and a cozy, soft high that’s delightful for any time of day. The melty high from this makes it a winner, and definitely deserves that top-shelf sticker. The dessert strain is the perfect accompaniment to a morning cup of coffee or a late-night glass of red wine. Or maybe, a few Oreo cookies. What an idea.
