Move Over Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins Also Has Ugly New Sneakers

June has been an interesting month for sneakerheads.

Last week, Chef Curry and the boys at Under Armour served up a pair of unpalatable Curry 2 Lows—a signature shoe mocked so relentlessly that Steph felt compelled to write “straight [fire emoji]” on them in defense. As a general rule, if you have to tell everyone that your shoes are fire, then they probably aren’t fire.

But just as people were starting to forget about Curry’s failed recipe, Adidas revealed the “Crazy Explosive” on Thursday—a new signature shoe for Andrew Wiggins better suited for rock climbing than professional basketball.

With bungee-cord laces and a colorway inspired by a ’90s diner soda cup, it’s hard to figure out exactly what Adidas was trying to accomplish with these high-top mountain boots. Needless to say Twitter had a lot of fun taking a jab at these…can we honestly call them basketball shoes?

They may be violently repulsive, but let’s give credit where it is due: they certainly captured the spirit of the shoe with the name “Crazy Explosive.”
