Pictureplane (Travis Egedy)’s most recent single, “Hyper Real,” reached through the monitor to pull at your heartstrings. Lonely strains floating through hazy breaks and a warped voice intoning, “I’m a psychopath”: this is what a late-night Tinder cruise sounds like. Already rinsed by Jerome LOL and Dark0, the track now gets whipped into a pop banger by Knife City, AKA Luke from Anamanaguchi. They’ve cheekily tagged it “goth EDM,” and that title might not be too far off. Watch out for the full remix package of “Hyper Real” this Friday, July 17 on IHEARTCOMIX’s 1NFINITY label.
