You know whats annoying? Loose and lazy. Guess what guys, Pavement locked that down years ago, so you can just slow down and come correct with your own shit. Or if you do it, at least do it with the near-unachievable quiet cool that most people always go after. Somehow, Rat Columns figured that shit out.
The band’s new EP Do You Remember Real Pain? is five songs of loose pop that feels as laid back as it does cool, focusing on some of the jangle that fueled Flying Nun, the ironclad songwriting of Pollard, and some of the oft-imitated cool of The Jesus and Mary Chain.
