For those who don’t know, Montreal’s The Narcicyst has been releasing a steady stream of great material as of late. When he’s not busy teaching pop culture to an ADD-addled generation at Concordia University, collaborating with some of Arabia’s finest trough his collective “The Medium” and raising a baby, The Narcicyst found time to create a free EP in December 2013 to hold his fans over until he completes the follow up to his self-titled debut. The Montreal-based Iraqi-Canadian emcee (he’s not named Mohammed) joins forces with Algerian-Canadian songstress Meryem Saci to shoot a minimalist video for “Average Type” off his EP We Are The Medium. Featuring floating bobble heads spinning like whirling dervishes on molly, watch as the two trade bars about their lyrical superiority while explaining why they aren’t your average Arabs. The whole thing is presented over shots of iconography and products that will identify with any major consumer. Hailing from a racy Quebec, Narcy is no stranger to dealing with awkard social stereotypes in a comedic way.
