Despite fostering a reputation of welcoming refugees, Canada has been detaining and deporting migrant children for years. New figures expose the extent, and the severity, of the problem.
A new report says Toronto police made 3,278 calls to the Canada Border Services Agency between November 2014 and June 2015. That's more than police in Quebec City, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver combined.
"Canada is not killing black people at the alarming rate the United States is,” says Kyle Lydell Canty, a black American citizen who is seeking refugee status in Canada.
