Creators Remix Roundup Week 2

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn’t keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. This week we bring you 5 new Creator remixes, plus an honorable mention from a Grammy award-winning artist/trainwreck who proves that she still can belt out a ballad.

Kele: “On the Lam” (Stanton Warriors Remix)

Kele’s single “On the Lam” off The Boxer was officially released on October 25th, but we feel the Stanton Warriors remix enhances the track because of the vocal alterations and explosions of synth, making the tune less of a solo artist’s hit and more of a dance floor staple (at least until next week). The video makes us feel like we’ve taken a cross-country road trip in just over three minutes. That’s impressive.

DJ Wordy & Ski Beatz: “High in the Cloud” (feat. Trademark & Mckenzie)

This is what you get when you mix the king of the Beijing scene (DJ Wordy), Jay-Z’s former producer Ski Beatz, Trademark Da Skydiver’s freestyle with the soul-infused vocals of up-and-coming hip-hop executive McKenzie Eddy. Unwind from the work week with this steady, energizing collaboration.

Garion (feat. P-TYPE): “(가라온) – 판게아” (produced by DJ Soulscape)

Korean hip-hop artists Garion and P-Type conspire on a DJ Soulscape-produced track resulting in a fantastical laid back combustion of language layered over tame dubstep-influenced base.

Sulumi: “Machine It” (Dubmood remix)

Creator and 8-bit wunderkind Sulumi teams up with Swedish chiptune prodigy Dubmood resulting in a track that sounds like an epic, orchestrated video game duel. That is, if both players could be winning.

Miike Snow: “Animal” (Mark Ronson remix)

The best part about having friends in the business is that you can call them up at random and have them perform in your revolving-door of a band. Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt was called in to do just that for a special recording of Mark Ronson and the Business Intl.‘s “Somebody to Love Me.” We suppose that Mark’s remix (above) was a late-night rendition/result of two friends exchanging stylistic cues.

CREATOR BONUS TRACK

Amy Winehouse: “It’s My Party (Leslie Gore Cover)” (produced by Mark Ronson)

If Amy’s really back then it’s definitely her party, as we’ve all been waiting since 2008 for her next album. Her Ronson-produced Leslie Gore cover will be released on Quincy Jones’ tribute album Q:Soul Bossa Nostra later this month.
