This week on the blog we saw a robot turn sand into 3D printed architecture, got hyped up reminiscing on those glorious weapons we all know and love from past videogames, whizzed around the velodrome to the Chemical Brothers with CrystalCG’s olympic short, experienced a cacophony of 8-bit noise music from Datathrash Recordings, and then chilled out to a beautifully elegant light version of Newton’s cradle.

And down the hall…

· The SlowMo Guys put up another winning video titled Fire Tennis. Safe to say, it features flaming tennis balls. In slow-mo.

· The Mars Curiosity rover has beamed back its first high-res image.

· Check out the clever eye-trickery in these playful sculptures at Gibbs Farm, New Zealand (above).

· The xx released a new track “Chained” this week, with a colourful liquid video to go with it.
