Impossible Reality | Perspectives, Jean-Pierre Roy

In our first video, a series on artists featured at in Miami, we meet painter Jean-Pierre Roy, whose latest work details a convergence between his high art aspirations and early visual memory. Influenced by sci-fi and pop iconography, science, and psychology, Roy explores the internal landscape. He is interested in depicting people who are caught in between two worlds: the one they perceive as reality, and another that that seems just beyond their reach. He says, “The large piece that I’ll be showing in the Pulse Art Fair with Gallery Poulsen began with a proposition: Can we wake up everyday and try to see the world as it really is?’”
