Lana Del Rey returned with a new song Saturday. “Love” contains everything that’s made the New Yorker a captivating presence over the past half-decade. It’s sultry and sweet and so shamelessly, apocalyptically romantic that its chorus is laced with gunshots.
The Rich Lee-directed video for “Love,” released this morning, is all of those things but dipped in sepia, and stuffed into the front seat of a busted Oldsmobile. An old car floats around space; Del Rey winks at the camera; everything is in slo-mo, even when it isn’t.
