Rooftop is a place you probably started going to while you were still at uni, and have kept visiting for two key reasons: because that view is really quite nice, and feeling the wind brush against your face is one of life’s simplest pleasures.
They’re also screening movies up there at Rooftop Cinema. Sometimes those movies are even free! (We are giving you free ones here.) If you would like to enjoy the spoils of Melbourne—but you’ve already seen like, every single Bansky we’ve got—go sit in a deckchair on a roof and watch a film. Specifically, one of these films.
Amelie. Screening February 8th.
You can pretend this movie is too “twee” for you. Go ahead. But we all know you fell in love with that whimsical little waitress when you first saw her. Such a tiny fringe, but such a big heart. Beautiful stuff. Tickets here.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s. February 12th.
Ah, yes. The film that inspired millions of awful faux-stencil canvases to be purchased for the bedrooms of teenage girls, and sometime grown women who also own mugs that say “Shhhhh… it’s wine!” Quite unfair, really. One of the greatest films of all time ended up spawning the worst art ever. Do Audrey Hepburn a favour and go see her as she would like: in this film, not at Ikea. Tickets here.
2 Days in Paris. Screening February 14th.
I swear, I am not some aspiring Francophiles obsessed with gay Paree. I promise you that. I just happen to love two movies screening this month, and both set in that city. Cut me a break! Julie Delpy is fantastic! Her boyfriend is an asshole! This screening is free!
Lion. Screening February 23rd.
I am actually not recommending this film because I am a huge fan of it. I haven’t seen it, but I have heard great things. Actually, I might just go to this myself. Apparently it’s a real Oscar contender, and Dev Patel has been a favourite of mine ever since Skins. Tickets here.
Blade Runner. Screening February 26th.
I truly hope to age as a well as this film. It’s nearly 30 years old and people seem to like it more now than when it was young and fresh. It’s that good. How many of you can say the same? If you has not seen it, wow. Wow, my dude. Tickets here.
If you do not like these selections, fine. Whatever. I don’t wanna talk about it. Just read the full program here. You can win tickets on us here.
