Kaleidoscopic digital shapes spin and shift like a myriad of electroluminescent Rubik’s cubes in animator Ben Ridgway‘s latest hypnotizing CGI experiment. With its images culled from the depths of Ridgway’s psyche, Inner Space Artifacts expands upon previous works, including the enchanting Cosmic Flower Unfolding. As he forges forth into his self-described “journey of deep excavation into the world of abstract ideas,” Ridgway moves his designs into a mesmerizing geometric matrix. In addition, and undoubtedly to help his viewers brains with Inner Space Artifacts‘ paradoxical intangibility, the animator also built physical replicas of the film’s egglike structures—available for purchase in 4″ and 8″ editions with castings of aluminum and bronze.
