Social media is full of problems.
Facebook is plagued by Russian propaganda and fake news. Reddit is dealing with racist trolls, and LinkedIn still exists. And now Twitter’s dealing with its own problem: Its users have for too long been restrained by a mere 140 characters per tweet.

The platform — known for its well-thought-out opinions and insular humor — announced Tuesday that it was testing tweets with twice as many characters to allow you to “express yourself.” Following the announcement, Twitter users immediately did what they do best: freak out.
