Millions of cicadas are making a joyous debut after 17 years underground — except those whose butts and genitals have been eaten by a fungus.
As humans remain stuck inside or socially distanced, trillions of buzzing cicadas will burst out of the ground across the U.S. between now and summer 2021. It's already starting.
When cicadas are infected with this fungus, they lose control of their bodies and mate with anything they can find.
Despite all the fear mongering prose, though, this cicada invasion should be epic in the best of ways.
