Wat is er in godsnaam met spam gebeurd?! De gebruikelijke advertenties voor Viagra en Vicodin worden geblockt door anti-spam software, en daarom gebruiken de spamrobots nu een andere tactiek. Ze sturen trieste en chagrijnige statements die helemaal niets te maken hebben met het product waarover gespamd wordt. Berichten gaan van specifiek gekanker over de staat van de wereld, tot meer willekeurige melancholiek.

Wat wij niet begrijpen is de psychologie achter deze berichten. Vroeger probeerden de spamrobots ons te laten klikken door te beginnen over seks en geld. Proberen ze ons nu binnen te halen door te relateren aan onze collectieve verveling? Of misschien heeft spam een sociaal geweten ontwikkeld?  Who knows?
