Today we meet up with Andrew May, 24, a tattoo artist
from London.
Having a somewhat solitary childhood in Devon, Andrew May found escape through drawing. By the time he made it to A-levels he was focusing only on fine art and sculpture. When university time rolled around the opportunity opened to become a receptionist in a local tattoo parlour. He decided to take it, figuring that if it didn’t work out he could call it a gap year and head to uni.

Fortunately it did work out – soon enough Andy opened his own parlour
in Devon. Just over a year ago the opportunity presented itself to come
to London and work at the Shoreditch-based Shangri-la Tattoo Parlour, so
Andy grabbed it and the rest is history. Andy’s style is a
self-described mixture of the three main traditional styles (Western,
Japanese and tribal) combined with his own energy.
