You knew this was going to happen. It’s been foretold since Beyoncé’s secret album made the Interwebs throw a collective hissy fit last month. And the remixes are rolling in—not only because it’s the biggest album of this fresh-faced 2014, but because she’s Queen Bey, and her presence demands it.
The album is plenty electronic already—it doesn’t really need a bunch of remixes to bring it into our world. It’s full of 808 drums and quirky synths and breaks down genre walls more gleefully than your favorite experimental artist. Boots, the main producer of an album full of singular talent, sees it through twists and turns that eschew traditional pop structures or well-defined beat patterns. Each song develops at the pace it sees fit, often veering into unexpected territories, shrugging off the dominant R&B and rap tropes of 2014.

In this most frigid of seasons, I am thankful for the remixes that carried Beyoncé confidently onto the dancefloor, or dragged the record even further into the outer limits of weird. And there’s already a long litany of bootlegs and edits out there, so I thought I’d round some of some of my favorites into a neat little list. Most of them are variations of “Drunk In Love,” but not all. And bear in mind: there’s a lot more unheard heat out there than what’s posted here, because Soundcloud has been taking remixes down left and right like it’s a dance. So dig in, and let me know if I missed your favorite:
