Creators Remix Roundup Week 29

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn’t keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Carte Blanche (DJ Mehdi and Riton): “With You” (feat. Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip)

Videos by VICE

Summer must be getting to DJ Mehdi and Riton (known together as Carte Blanche) because the DJ duo have been cranking out the jams like wildfire these past few weeks. Two weeks ago, they released a Pyjama Jam mixtape and on Tuesday they released their new EP, White Man On The Moon, including this track with vocals by Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor. While snooping around DJ Mehdi’s MySpace, we also found a Carte Blanche House Party Mix, which you can download after checking their summer tour schedule. Because if you give a mouse a cookie…

Diplo and Douster: “ON!”

Every year when the weather starts to get nicer, songs from The Beatles album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band always seem to creep into our playlists, which is interesting because “ON!” references John Lennon’s vocals on “A Day In The Life,” off that very record. If it wasn’t for those familiar vocals, we never would have put the two together since Diplo and Douster fuze tropical rhythms with a slew of global beats in this all-encompassing house jam.

Lilian Hak: “Rebels Outlaws Misfits” (Matthew Herbert Hello mix)

Dutch singer and producer Lilian Hak has played with bands like M83 and The Kills and has an upcoming song on the soundtrack for an unreleased James Bond movie. But that’s not to say she doesn’t trail off the beaten path. As the title of this song suggests, she bypasses mainstream tastes, choosing to wear her hair like Marge Simpson. (And if that’s not a commitment, we don’t know what is.) The pacing of “Rebels Outlaws Misfits” seems to make it fit for a burlesque show or live theater performance, and Matthew Herbert accentuates its eccentricity by weaving in jerky rhythms and bleeps.
