A school in Eastern Germany is experimenting with modern teaching techniques designed to fight intolerance in schools. The Dalton Plan involves students working on the week’s curriculum independently. If students have questions, they first have to research in books, then ask fellow students, and only then can they ask the teachers. In theory, sounds good. In practice, not so good…
Judging from an incident in the playground of Parey school in Sachsen-Anhalt, it seems like the Dalton Plan project is just an excuse for the teachers to work less and the students to fuck around even more…

Three 15-year-olds forced a fellow student to hang a sign around his neck that said: “Ich bin am Ort das grösste Schwein, ich lass mich nur mit Jude ein (I am the biggest pig in this place. I only get involved with Jews).” This famous SA slogan (it rhymes in German) used to be hung around Aryan women’s necks when they dated Jews during the 3rd Reich. Their Jewish lovers would have a similar sign saying “Ich nehm als Judenjunge immer nur deutsche Mädchen mit auf Zimmer (I, as a Jewish Boy, only take German girls up into my room).”
Maybe German history and freewheeling teenage opinions aren’t always a good mix.
