The day is still relatively young, and most of the early games were hot garbage anyway, but this catch is outstanding. Northwestern receiver Mike McHugh had three catches for 47 yards entering today’s game against Iowa and halved that season production with just one acrobatic catch that went for 24 yards.
On a second-and-nine play in the third quarter, Trevor Siemian lofted a pass to the near sideline and McHugh went all the way up and snared it with one hand. As he twisted in mid-air, he corralled it with his other hand and also managed to get his foot down in bounds. The play got Northwestern to the Iowa four-yard line for what looked like a sure scoring drive in an otherwise miserable 38-7 drubbing. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. The Cats got as close as the Iowa one, but came up empty on a fourth-and-goal pass.

Still, that’s a sweet catch man.
