The problem with going into space, which would slightly mar all the hallowed beauty of being able to hide the entire Earth and all the other cosmic wonders behind your thumb, is crash landing on an alien planet. It would be terrifying and, according to this seven minute short film called Grounded from director Kevin Margo, a little trippy too.

Things take a turn for the Twilight Zone when the same guy seems to keep crashing again and again on the same planet. Just what the hell is going on? Is he a glutton for punishment? Is there a wormhole in space? Some kind of time vortex? Is he dreaming? Did he eat the brown acid? Is that old guy him? Margo says it’s a metaphorical tale that explores “Themes of aging, inheritance, paternal approval, cyclic trajectories, and behaviors passed on through generations.” But if anyone has any other answers, let’s hear them.
