The M Machine are on some whole different level. The San Franciscan group’s debut release, Metropolis, was a highfalutin-but-heavy two part EP inspired by the 90 year old German expressionist science-fiction movie of the same name. There’s a creative and conceptual ambition to their music that you just don’t find in a lot of upfront tunage in dance.
We’ve got the title track from their upcoming Just Like EP, and it’s definitely a switch-up. it’s a laid back bassline house tune with wonky vocal samples and some next level sound design goin’ on. “We wrote the Just Like EP as a break from the conceptual and brooding attitude of our music-to-date,” they tell THUMP. “The title track makes us laugh and dance in equal parts. Have a beer with it!”

We might be having a lot more than a beer with it. It sounds like the craziest ketamine-laced bassline rave to ever happen in Smurfvillage.
The EP drops on OWSLA on November 11th.
