A foreign hit squad of 26 Colombians and two Haitian Americans killed President Jovenel Moïse, police say, as pressure grows to uncover who ordered the assassination.
Videos of the scene show heavily armed gunmen and a voice over a megaphone saying in English, “DEA operation, everybody back up and stand down.”
Unidentified armed men attacked Jovenel Moïse's official residence in the night, the country’s interim prime minister said.
Haitians have gone to the polls for the second time in three months after violence and allegations of fraud turned August elections into a shambles. This time, the vote went ahead peacefully.
