Australia’s Total Control have released two amazing records back to back. They supported their monumental Henge Beat debut with several tours, but none since their year-end topping Typical System. Total Control’s hometown of Melborune is well-known for their long-standing weirdo punk/garage scene (Eddy Current Supression Ring, HELLO?), and this band is the downer synth pop embodiment of that city. The powerhouse group features members of other great Melbourne bands like The UV Race and Straightjacket Nation, and is led by the prolific Daniel Distort. The band has steadily evolved from their earlier stripped down punk days (we first saw them play The Acheron in 2010), and somehow kills it harder and harder every time.
Now comes word that the band will finally return to play US gigs, bringing their live wire show. The stops include a single East Coast show thus far, along with Midwest dates, Austin, and a pair of West Coast gigs. Full tour dates are below. You should go.
