Byte The App: Must See Apps Of The Week 2/16

The app stores are teeming with new releases, but who has time to go through them all? We do. Bringing you a selection of the most interesting, creative, and innovative apps each week. Submit your suggestions for next week in the comments below.

Twikao [iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad]
If you’re tired of the near endless ways the human face can express emotion and you’re after a more simplified, text-based way to show how you feel, then use this app that can turn your face into an emoticon. Just take a snap of your mug, and the software will do the rest. If these textual portrayals look unfamiliar, it’s because they’re based on the Japanese double-byte character codes called kaomoji. But it means you get to choose from over 100 emoticons to express yo self. :)

Using the Flipboard idea of collating content from your social networks and fav websites, this app allows you to actually design the end-product yourself with the likes of Vimeo, YouTube, and RSS feeds at your disposal. You can then make magazines, portfolios, or books adding different levels of interactivity and various layouts.
