Here’s a New Jack White Track, “Battle Cry,” That Turned up by Surprise Overnight

Like a creepy ex or Summer Santa, a new Jack White track turned up unexpectedly and without warning last night. “Battle Cry” is two-and-a-half minutes of just about the simplest two-note riffing possible, backed by, well, actual battle cries, broken up by a brief, abstract solo from White. Like your ex, nobody’s quite sure what the track is doing or why it’s turned up now; like Summer Santa, it’s a pleasant, if unconventional, surprise.
