What would you say if someone asked, “What is the truth?” It’s a broad question with an even broader amount of responses, but that’s exactly what the Cause Collective, in collaboration with Hank Willis Thomas, is trying to solve with the installation, The Truth Is I See You.
The installation is comprised of the “Truth Booth,” an inflatable, portable confessional that has traveled from Ireland to Afghanistan to Art Basel, and now lands in Brooklyn. The interactive art project invites passersby to enter the booth and privately fill in the blank of “The Truth is _____.” The responses, which can last up to two minutes, are recorded privately.

The Cause Collective now has over 5,000 recorded responses, ranging everywhere from the emotional to the political in nature. You can record your own confession at Metrotech Commons in Downtown Brooklyn, and experience the Truth Booth for yourself, from now until August 10.
