Manticore has been rattling around the American black metal underground since 2000, and they’re still going strong (and still adorning the stage with crucified rats during their sporadic live shows). Their virulent, lo-fi strain of black/death has quite a bit in common with Revenge or Dead Congregation, and it’s always been funny watching European black metal types sneer at the USBM scene without knowing that we’ve got bands like this in our corner. Their new split seven-inch with Ritual Slaughter is another nice notch in the ol’ bullet belt; Manticore’s contribution, “Black Sheep Amongst the Wolves,” is a frenzied outpouring of gurgling evil.
The split is out November 6 via Tridroid Records and Black Bone Mortualia. Preorders for the limited run of hand-numbered seven-inches (with artwork by Daniel Desecrator!) are available now, and you can stream Manticore’s side below:
