Our latest contributor to the MIXED BY series has done it all. He’s worked with The Bloody Beetroots, toured with Rihanna, and released on some of the most influential EDM labels, including Ultra, Dim Mak, and Fool’s Gold. While the Italian producer cut his teeth blasting tracks that usually occupy the space between grinding electro and big-room, for his debut on THUMP he managed to piece together one of the most eclectic tracklists we’ve seen yet. According to the famed producer he “tried something different here, I went for a couple productions of mine, of my friends, a lil bit of jacking house/techno that I don’t always play and I ended with some experimental electronics that I can’t play in my sets but are often in my iPod.” After listening to this thang we certainly agree with his assessment.
His set starts with energetic jack tracks from the likes of Green Velvet and Bart B More and winds up in punk-tinged experimental territory—he even included “Icy Lake,” the vogue tune we investigated and revived a few weeks ago. Evidently, it’s a riveting mix that seamlessly traverses a new genre at each transition from one of EDM’s most brilliant minds: Congorock.
