Fact. There are way too many sludge bands. Sorry guys, you can’t recreate the filth-ridden majesty of Dopesick or ..At a Loss, the best thing you can do is come with your own approach. Just make sure it’s semi-close to being as vicious. The recent sophomore LP by Brainoil was one of the few that did; Death of this Dry Season is a spoonful of boiling hot vitriol, matched only by their considerably maladjusted live show.
Now comes word that the band’s long out-of-print debut for Life is Abuse will finally be reissued. The release, due via Tankcrimes (who are also doing the Dystopia LP) on September 14, captures some of that hatred within it’s seven tracks, including the album closer “Support in Numbers.”
