“I just need a pen and a dream, I live in the mess of the drawers,” says Parteum in his track “Bagunça das Gavetas,” off his second album, A Autoridade da Razão [The Authority of Reason]. Parteum’s life as a producer and MC in Sao Paulo demands more than a pen though—his iPad has become a natural extension of how he’s been producing his music lately. In an interview for the Per Raps blog, Parteum says that “the ability to make music anywhere has [put me in] some funny situations. I have found myself programming keyboards during a meeting (or two), using the phone to record the idea of a bass line in the taxi run, sampling to the sound of the TV.”

Don’t be fooled though—this versatile MC is not just an iPad-toting rapper with a gimmick. With three albums, six mix tapes, and several TV show and movie scores under his belt, this Brazilian has got the track record to prove he’s not going to be doling out placebos.
