A weekly roundup of what’s happening at the intersection of tech and fashion.
DESIGNER KISS TECH OF THE WEEK
Videos by VICE
Damn, it’s only a few weeks left till Christmas – already stressing what you’re going to get that special someone? I mean, people love designer things sure, but who has the money to splash all that $$$? No worries, Burberry has you covered–Burberry Kisses, the brand’s digital partnership project with Google, has just been given a festive update just in time for the holidays. Capture and send a virtual imprint of your own IRL kiss URL – it looks uber-cute, and it won’t cost you a penny, you cheapskate. The idea’s all about promoting Burberry beauty products, as you can choose one of five lipstick shades to send your kiss in. The gold colours and Christmassy details of the reboot will get you and your lucked-out sweetie in the festive mood in no time.
SURREAL FUTURE EDITORIAL OF THE WEEK
We’re all over photographer Zeb Daemen’s editorial for the new issue of Belgium-based DM Magazine this week. Teaming up with digital artists Uber & Kosher, models Frederik Meijnen and Jeroen Muylaert are dissected, warped and mirrored against a backdrop of 3D computer vectors, wearing threads like dark floral suiting and watercolour print separates. Nice.

Okay, so maybe you’re not sure about the Burberry Kiss as the perfect present for your other half. That’s cool bro, check this out – if you get her a TapTap Wristband, you’ll be able to stay connected to each other wherever you are. Engineering team Woodenshark have devised this silicon wearable tech accessory as a means of communicating without the need for a screen, utilising taps instead. One person simply taps their wristband, and the other person feels it through theirs via a built-in capacitive sensor and accelerometer – there are also LED lights that flash whenever you miss a tap or the device needs to be charged. The idea’s nice if slightly creepy – kinda like the equivalent to being tapped on the shoulder when you’re up to no good.
