Dan Boardman’s new body of work, 2014, draws on photography, sketching, and the special effect techniques of early cinema. To create the images, he shot cutout masks in front of negatives, resulting in multiple layers and a vague sense of place and time. Many of the pieces took months to complete and comprise hundreds of exposures.
The photos will appear this month at SAD Gallery in Seattle and in a print edition from Silver Eye Center for Photography.
