What could make a beautiful banana look even prettier, even food-pornier? A quick dip in gold, of course.

Jonpaul Douglass, who has previously photographed pizza in the wild, did just that by lending the Midas Touch to corndogs, pineapples, and a whole snapper in his “Gold Foodz” series. Sure, painting food to make it look nicer doesn’t always work out, but Douglass isn’t going for verisimilitude, even if he is a bit of perfectionist. “I’ve had quite a few failures,” he tells MUNCHIES. “I just can’t seem to get the cheeseburger quite right.”
