Your secret dream of commanding a small army of woodland creatures—Aquaman-style—comes true at the new Butterfliezz for Alice installation from “technological alchemist” Ivor Diosi and programmer Matin Zrcek. Look into the giant flatscreen TV and the titular winged insects flutter arround and land on your face, arms, and body, controlled by the same motion capture technology that Diosi used for QUALIA, the mesmerizing installation that looks back at you. Produced by Prague’s International Center for Art and New Technology, Butterfliezz is far less ominous than QUALIA, evoking a Disney Princess vibe that only comes out when you feel harmonious with nature, or if you have the cash for Festo’s bionic butterfly swarm.
