It starts with a low rumble. Sitting at the back of the bus with headphones blasting, head lowered and hoodie pulled down tight. It takes about 45-minutes from the shopping centre depot to the stop downtown. 30-minutes with an express, but time doesn’t really matter when you’ve got heavy punk vibes flowing through your head.
Brisbane’s Black Deity punch above their weight. There’s only three of them but their sound brings that dank and sweaty feel of a crammed house show. Sure there are strong Sabbath and Motorhead influences but there’s also the raw and DIY feel of early Brisbane punk bands like Fun Things and The Leftovers.
