“PASS OUT, DRANK, WAKE UP, DRANK”…yeah, I mean, it’s been a good year for Kendrick, with his debut album finally on the way and a million fanboys craning for his attention, he’s been one of the most technically lauded MCs of 2012. And you can see why on this track that’s cropped up online, “The Art Of Peer Pressure”.
It’s a dark and scuzzy beat, and while it certainly isn’t as painstakingly produced as affair as “Swimming Pools“, what it lacks in glossiness is made up for by Kendrick’s eloquence. He almost makes you remember that the best raps have rested on storytelling, and not just yelling nicknames for cocaine over Luger synths.
