Day 324: “Receipt” – Tha Carter II, 2005

Lil Wayne sounds great on Mannie Fresh beats, but, man, I’m a sucker for Wayne getting tender on these kinds of sped-up soul East Coast beats. This song feels like a blueprint (no pun intended, but it also is a lot like an upbeat version of JAY-Z’s “Song Cry”) for a whole set of Wayne tracks that riff on this theme. Bottom line? It’s good. I mean, look at this:
