Stream the Bongo-Heavy “Friendly Ghost,” by Phantasy Sound Artist U

On Friday, Phantasy Sound dropped Friendly Ghost/Ascension Hymn, a special two-track 12″ from U on vinyl. The release comes on the heels of U’s spectacular, 16-track album, Vienna Orchestra, released in May.

“Friendly Ghost,” the first single released from the 12″, is a percussion-driven cacophony of sounds including propulsive bongos and spindly samples with an off-kilter, yet dance-floor ready beat. It’s far darker and weirder than anything U has released. “Ascension Hymn,” the second track on the 12″, is reportedly 13 minutes long.

Around 300 copies of Friendly Ghost/Ascension Hymn were pressed. A digital version of the 12″ will premiere on December 9.
