Running for Mexico’s missing

The last nine years have been bad for human rights in Mexico. Since the start of 2007, an estimated 180,000 Mexicans have been killed and another 28,000 have gone missing, many because of the ongoing drug war.

The country seemed to reach a tipping point on Sept. 26, 2014, when 43 students from a rural teacher’s college in southern Mexico disappeared.

Two years on, families of the missing students and international human rights organizations continue to pressure the Mexican government for answers. In New York, Antonio Tizapa, the father of one of the missing students, ran a race to raise awareness of his son’s case.
