Slide Into Some Power Pop Goodness With First Base

Elvis, Buzzcocks, Al Green, Ramones, Rick James. Power poppers First Base join a distinct group of bands and musicians who’ve written a song dedicated to Judy. Taken from their forthcoming album Not That Bad, the song buzzes along with a lyric pleading for Judy to call.

The record also has a song called “Sandra” but that lyric goes “Sandra can’t stand ya.” It would be great if some power poppers wrote a song called “Khadija” or “Takisha”.

The Toronto band released their self-titled debut on Hozac all the way back in 2013 but they’ve also put out a clutch of singles. These guys know their way around three chords and hooky melodies and on tracks such as “Cooking Up Trouble” and the album’s title track, they turn up some sweet guitar pop.
