Lily was my friend and my favorite person to photograph. She was my muse. She was everyone’s muse, really. We spent months driving cross-country together. Sometimes we’d drive for 14 hours straight and she’d be making everyone friendship bracelets and we’d just talk the whole time. She was probably the most adventurous girl I’ve ever met. During photo shoots everyone else would whine and say, “Oh, I don’t want to get naked and run around at the drive-in,” but Lily would just laugh and say, “Yeah, that sounds fun! Let’s do it!”
When I did a naked bungee-jumping shoot, everyone else freaked out about it, but Lily was excited to do it. She was a beautiful tomboy. She was always looking for an adventure and never scared to get into trouble. And if we ever did get in trouble, Lily would always get us out of it. She could charm the pants off you.
The last time I was with Lily was in Paris. We ate dinner at this restaurant that was pitch-black and all the waiters were blind. Lily thought it would be funny to kiss someone in the dark. She felt her way around the chairs until she found a guy and then she kissed him. The guy followed her back to our table but she switched seats with me so that when he went to kiss her again, he ended up kissing me instead. We were laughing our heads off and then we got kicked out.
I really miss her.
