Terrible infomercials are a dime a dozen (plus these three bonuses!) but hilariously shitty infomercials aren’t so easy to find. That’s why I’m such a big fan of r/wheredidthesodago, a subreddit dedicated to GIFs of infomercial disasters. I think it’s fairly new — I can’t find any posts older than a few hours old, and user FredInvisible seems to be creating most of the posts — but it’s blowing up: This morning it had around 5,000 subscribers, now there’s nearly 7,000, with over 3,000 users on the subreddit right now. The use of GIFs as a medium can be exhausting sometimes, but in this context it works perfectly, lending the short disaster clips the aggressively-choppy, melting-VHS feel of TV Carnage while somehow giving even less context.
